1. Digital Learning & Dive Theory

Study at your own pace using the PSS eLearning platform before meeting your instructor.

Topics include:

  • Scuba equipment
  • Pressure and underwater physics

2. Confined Water Training

Before entering the open sea, you’ll practice every essential skill in calm, controlled water.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Assemble and check your scuba equipment
  • Enter and exit the water safely
  • Breathe comfortably underwater
  • Clear water from your mask
  • Recover your regulator
  • Control your buoyancy
  • Hover underwater
  • Use underwater hand signals
  • Share air with your buddy
  • Perform safe ascents

3. Open Water Training Dives

The highlight of the course is applying everything you’ve learned during real dives in the Caribbean Sea.

You’ll complete:

  • 4 open water training dives
  • At least 80 minutes of total underwater time
  • Gradual depth progression up to 18 metres (60 ft)

During these dives you’ll practice navigation, buoyancy, buddy procedures and underwater awareness while exploring beautiful reefs around Varadero.

Most students complete the course in 3–4 days, depending on scheduling and individual progress.

Water Skills Assessment

To earn your certification you’ll demonstrate basic water comfort by completing:

• A 200 m swim or 300 m snorkel swim without stopping.

• Floating or treading water for 10 minutes.

These are not speed tests, they simply confirm that you’re comfortable in the water.
