FAQ
Do I need certification?
Certified divers can join all of our reef dives. If you have never dived before, you can still experience the underwater world through our First Scuba Experience (Discovery Dive), where a certified instructor guides you every step of the way. No previous experience or certification is required.
How deep are the dives?
Our reef dives range from 8 to 30 meters (26–98 feet), depending on the dive site and your certification level.
• Coral Beach: up to 16 m (48 ft)
• Bacunayagua: up to 25 m (75 ft)
• Punta Sabanilla Wall: up to 30 m (98 ft)
• Puerto Escondido: up to 14 m (46 ft)
Your instructor will always select an appropriate dive profile based on your experience and certification.
Can beginners join?
Yes! Beginners are welcome.
If you’re not certified, our Discovery Dive is designed especially for first-time divers and includes a short introduction, shallow-water practice, and a guided reef dive with a certified instructor.
Certified beginner divers (such as Open Water Divers) can also enjoy many of our reef sites with comfortable conditions and excellent visibility.
Is equipment included?
Tanks, weights, and a professional dive guide are included with every dive.
Complete scuba equipment—including BCD, regulator, wetsuit, mask, fins, and boots—is available for rent if needed. If you have your own equipment, you’re welcome to bring it.
Can my family snorkel?
Absolutely!
Family members and friends who don’t scuba dive can join as Snorkeling Companions and explore the same beautiful reef from the surface while you dive below. It’s a great way for everyone to enjoy the ocean together.
What marine life will I see?
Every dive is different, but you can expect to see a wide variety of Caribbean marine life, including:
• Colorful tropical reef fish
• Healthy coral gardens
• Southern stingrays
• Moray eels
• Spiny lobsters
• Barracudas
• Schools of grunts and snappers
• Parrotfish, angelfish, butterflyfish, and sergeant majors
• Sea turtles (occasionally)
• Nurse sharks (occasionally, depending on the dive site and season)
Our experienced guides know the reefs well and will help you spot fascinating marine life while promoting responsible, eco-friendly diving practices.
